Ladyburn Distillery, Lowlands

Ladyburn whisky distillery (Lowlands) was built as an additional set of stills to the grain distillery at Girvan in order to produce a malt whisky. Both distilleries primarily worked to provide whisky to be used in the blends for William Grant & Sons Ltd, but a few Ladyburn single malt whiskies were produced, and were generally well-regarded, particularly for a relatively obscure distillery.

Ladyburn is particularly notable for its exceptionally short lifespan: the malt distillery was built in 1966 and demolished only 10 years later. The grain distillery still operates today, however.

For those whisky connoisseurs attempting to find these rare bottlings of Ladyburn, be aware that some of these were also bottled under the name of ‘Ayrshire,’ after the region where the distillery was originally located.
