Remark : From Collins Pocket Reference : Whisky
The Claymore is a popular blend which is owned by Whyte & Mackay, the blending and bottling company begun in 1882 by whisky merchants James Whyte and Charles Mackay. As with many of the company's whiskies, The Claymore is popular in export markets as well as in the UK, where it is among the bestselling blends. In 1993 Whyte & Mackay acquired Invergordon Distillers, adding seven malt distilleries (three of which have now been mothballed) and the big Invergordon grain distillery to their holdings.
Tasting comment : A nicely rounded, medium bodied blend with a mellow aroma and a well balanced, smooth and rich taste.
