Remark : Built by Benromach Distillery Compagny. In 1925 the mash tun was wooden.
Benromach was designed by Elgin architect Charles Doig and has high pitched garbels and narrow mullioned windows in the Scots vernacular style of the 17th. century. Bought by Associated Scottish Distilleries Limited in 1937.
ASD Ltd. sold it to DCL in 1953. It was managed by SMD and licensed to J. & W. Hardie.
Still house was rebuilt in 1966. Mash house rebuilt in 1974 and tun-room modernised also in 1974.
There are now two stills bought by Gordon & MacPhail in 1992 who reopned the stills in 1996. (Thanx !)

In Forres, near the mouth of the River Findhorn is the Benromach Distillery.
Benromach was designed by Elgin architect Charles Doig and has high pitched gables and narrow mullioned windows in the Scots vernacular style of the 17th century.
It was founded in 1898 by the Benromach Distillery Company and was subsequently sold to Associated Scottish Distilleries Ltd. in 1937, who sold it to DCL in 1953. It was managed by SMD and licensed to J & W Hardie.
The stillhouse was rebuilt in 1966 and the mash house was rebuilt and the tunroom modernised in 1974. Its two stills ceased production in 1983.
Bought by Gordon & MacPhail in 1992, who plan to re-open it in late 1995/6.
Situated to the north of Forres on the north side of the railway line.
Water taken from the Chapeltown springs near Forres.

Benromach 1976 Cask Strength Cask Strength Highland 1976 1995 65 The stills has now been removed from this distilllery. The building has been bought over with a view to putting in new stills and distilling. Bottled in March 1995, available from Wm. Cadenhead.
